- Directions: From Route 7 in Manchester, travel about a ¼ mile east on Route 11/30 to East Manchester Road. Follow East Manchester Rd. south for about 1.0 miles and turn left onto Glen Road, just before the overpass. Follow Glen Rd. and bear right at the fork onto the Lye Brook Access Road. The trailhead is located to the east of the parking lot at the end of the Lye Brook Access Road.
Join us for a hike led by Robert J. Waibel on Saturday November 2nd at 8 a.m. to the Rich Lumber switchback in Lye Brook Wilderness. Robert has spent years retracing the Rich Lumber rail lines that snaked through the Lye Brook wilderness and beyond from 1912-1919.
This hike will be long and sometimes strenuous. Length will be 5+ miles with some bush-whacking, plan for a 4-5 hour outing at a minimum. We will meet at the Lye Brook Falls trail head off East Manchester Road > Glen Road / Benson Rd.
All are welcome, but please note that it will not be a casual stroll through the woods as mentioned above! Wear your hiking boots, bring a backpack with water, food and anything else needed for a day hike.
